GLEE 2.12 “Silly Love Songs” Review

Love is in the air and Glee is spoiling their fans with its second episode in a week. With Valentine’s Day approaching, Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) has the glee club sing love songs to each other.

Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) and members of the glee club watch Mike and Artie perform

Finn (Cory Monteith) sets up a kissing booth to raise money for the glee club but he has an ulterior motive; to kiss Quinn (Dianna Agron) again after they shared a kiss at the end of the last episode. Finn has often made a point about how both Quinn and Rachel (Lea Michele) cheated on him with Puck (Mark Salling) but he has no issue with Quinn cheating on Sam (Chord Overstreet); would he feel differently if Sam was his best friend? Finn and Quinn are obviously confused about their feelings but it opens up other possibilities. What will this now mean for Finn, Rachel, Quinn and Sam.

There might have been plenty of kisses but there is also tears; Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) crying while she sings to Mike (Harry Shum Jr.) because everyday is Valentine’s Day. There were also tears from Santana (Naya Rivera) after Rachel insults her. I liked seeing these sides of Rachel and Santana but it doesn’t last long in Santana’s case. She figures it out about Finn and Quinn and schemes to catch them out. Her determination to uncover their secret has no limits as she uses mono to do it. One line sums up how little she cares about having mono herself, “I’ve had mono so many times it turned into stereo.”
