‘Last Resort’ Review: Cinderella Liberty

Last Resort answers the biggest question when the truth of what happened in Pakistan is finally revealed in “Cinderella Liberty.”

The families of the Colorado crew members are on their way to visit the island when they are taken hostage by Pakistani soldiers. “Cinderella Liberty” shows the repercussions of the SEALS mission in Pakistan and how it’s has political and personal links to the hostage situation.

Chaplin (Andre Braugher) himself in a difficult situation. The Pakistani soldiers want him to fire at India or the crew’s family members die. Part of the problem is that Chaplin’s firing key is still missing.

‘Last Resort’ Review: Nuke It Out

Last Resort goes back to switching between the island and America in “Nuke It Out.” Marcus (Andre Braugher) and Sam (Scott Speedman) are leading the search for the firing key taken from Marcus when everyone was unconscious. The crew is in the dark about what the search is about; even Grace (Daisy Betts) isn’t told. It isn’t the only piece of information she isn’t privy too. Marcus and Sam are keeping the surviving member of the Black Ops team captive. Booth (if that’s really his name) tells Sam about the move against the President. This was previously mentioned in “Skeleton Crew” and I wonder how long before something actually happens.

The identity of the CIA sleeper agent is revealed to the viewers but not to any of the crew members. I wonder if Marcus became suspicious of Cortez (Jessica Camacho) seeing as it’s the second time she has sort him out instead following the chain of command. Marcus has got to ask himself why did Cortez need to pledge her allegiance at that particular time.

‘Last Resort’ Review: Another Fine Navy Day

“Another Fine Navy Day” spends its time going back and forth in narrative as the episode deals with an attack on the island. Rather than splitting the episode between the island and those in America, the episode follows only those on the island and on the submarine.

All the inhabitants of the island are drugged and find themselves hallucinating before passing out. The purpose of drugging them is for a team to go to the island and find something that the SEALS have.

Master Chief Joseph Prosser (Robert Patrick), Lieutenant Grace Shepard (Daisy Betts) and Captain Marcus Chaplin (Andre Braugher) go to the submarine while XO Sam Kendal (Scott Speedman) remains on the island.

‘Last Resort’ Review: Voluntold

If you can’t trust your crew members then who can you trust. It’s a something that Captain Marcus Chaplin (Andre Braugher) and XO Sam Kendal (Scott Speedman) have to figure out very quickly. They have officially been charged with treason against the United States and unrest is growing within the crew of the Colorado. Marcus gives the crew a big decision to make; stay or go home.

Secretary of Defense William Curry (Jay Karnes) sent communication to the submarine with an order to kill Marcus. A few of the crew members see the order and one of them shoots at Marcus.

‘Last Resort’ Review: Blue on Blue

The pilot showed the start of their own country turning against the crew of the Colorado. “Blue on Blue” gives the crew another headache as they have to contend with a foreign obstacle as well as 20+ US warships.

Captain Marcus Chaplin (Andre Braugher) declared a 200-mile perimeter as no man’s land around the island but people aren’t exactly listening. One of the submarines moves in closer to the Colorado’s position and a plane flies within the island’s airspace.

‘Last Resort’ Review: Captain

When the trailers for the new TV shows were released in May, Last Resort was one of a small handful that I was immediately excited to see. There have been many shows where a show hasn’t lived up to the trailer. With Last Resort, it exceeded my expectations and it doesn’t fail to disappoint. After only watching one episode, I’m already hooked.

The show follows the submarine crew of the Colorado. They are given the order to fire missiles at a foreign country, on a channel that is meant to be used when the US is under attack. Querying the order by asking for confirmation, Captain Marcus Chaplin (Andre Braugher) finds himself relived of his duties and XO Sam Kendal (Scott Speedman) is put in charge to make the decision to fire. After also asking for confirmation of the order, the Colorado is hit by a missile and is forced to seek refuge on an exotic island. Not only, do the crew, have to find a way to clear their names but on the island, they have to deal with Julian Serrat (Sahr Ngaujah) who doesn’t take too well the influx of Americans.
