‘Revenge’ Review: Grief

After last week’s flashback episode Revenge is back in the present and there’s so much going on. Lydia (Amber Valletta) is back and not just in last week’s flashback; she’s been staying with Conrad (Henry Czerny). Daniel (Joshua Bowman) is still standing by his father while Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) is doing all she can to get rid of Conrad.

‘Revenge’ Review: Legacy

While it isn’t everything I thought it would be “Legacy” still provides interesting insight to the moment when Emily (Emily VanCamp) decides to get revenge on those that setup David (James Tupper) and covered it up.

REVENGE - "Legacy"

In 2002, Emily is still Amanda and she’s not the cunning female we’ve come to know. She’s more the act now and don’t think about it type; in some ways she reminds me of Fauxmanda (Margarita Levieva). All the people involved in the David Clarke cover-up are gathered at the Grayson’s Hamptons home to see in the New Year, including a character we weren’t fully aware of; David’s friend Roger, who was forced to keep quiet about the cover-up.

‘Revenge’ Review: Absolution

“I’ll kill him” are the strong words Emily (Emily VanCamp) utters as she tells Nolan (Gabriel Mann) what she’ll do to the man that killed her father. Family is one of the reasons for people’s actions on Revenge; whether it’s to protect or get revenge. This is very evident in “Absolution.” Fresh from finding out Conrad (Henry Czerny) played a part in David’s (James Tupper) murder, Emily is on the trail to finding out the truth. She finds David’s assistant who also happens to be related to Nolan. A fake death wasn’t that hard to hide seeing as Emily found out within a couple of days. How many times is Nolan going to find himself on Emily’s angry side? It doesn’t last for long but for that split moment it looks like she’s gonna kill him or never call him again.

‘Revenge’ Review: Doubt

If you’re like me, then you know the wait for a new episode has been too long. The good news is that there are new episodes every week until the season finale. The way everything is played out in “Doubt” shows us we’re in for a real treat.

Revenge 117

The Grayson’s are in damage control mode as they work with attorney Benjamin Brooks (Courtney B. Vance) on Daniel’s (Joshua Bowman) defense. There’s nothing better than a parents love for their child. If your Daniel, this includes getting beat up in jail so you can be released on house arrest. Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) calls on her go to guy, Lee (Derek Ray) to set up the beating. Emily (Emily VanCamp) hasn’t forgotten that Lee is the same guy who beat up Jack (Nick Wechsler). You wouldn’t want to meet a revenge filled Emily in a dark alley as she gives Lee a piece of his own medicine.

‘Revenge’ Review: Scandal

“Scandal” sees the repercussions of what happened on the beach at the engagement party for Daniel (Joshua Bowman) and Emily (Emily VanCamp). The episode sees Courtney B. Vance guest star as Daniel’s attorney.

Emily watching another man being arrested at her house while the Grayson’s are on the porch strikes certain similarities to what happened to Emily’s father, David (James Tupper). The only difference is with Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) and Conrad (Henry Czerny) is that instead of just idly standing by, they are actively trying to stop Daniel from being taken away.

‘Revenge’ Review: Chaos

Now we’ve come full circle and ended up where the pilot started and boy has it been a fun ride. An episode full of shocks and surprises coupled with the usual amount of manipulation that comes from some of the characters. “Chaos” manages to live up to its episode title. Emily’s (Emily VanCamp) reaction at the end mirrored the way that I felt; what happened on the beach?

The fire and ice theme easily describes the character traits of some of the characters, especially in “Chaos.” A perfect example of fire sees the return of Tyler (Ashton Holmes). I had a feeling that we weren’t going to see the last of the character and in some way I hoped he would return. Holmes has been brilliant playing the role of the unstable man. It’s revealed that Tyler stole Emily’s box but what I wasn’t expecting was that he also kidnaps Fauxmanda (Margarita Levieva). Maybe it’s time I should just call her Amanda from now on.

‘Revenge’ Review: Perception

It’s very rare that I watch an episode of Revenge and come away feeling a bit disappointed and unfortunately this is one of those times. This isn’t to say that “Perception “ isn’t a good episode but by the show’s own high standards, some of this episode felt a bit off the mark, in comparison.

There is one scene that really stood out and it played out like a soap opera; the truth about David (James Tupper) being Charlotte’s (Christa B. Allen) real father, is revealed in front of everyone at dinner. If that isn’t soap enough for you, William Devane also guest stars as Conrad’s (Henry Czerny) father. I was too young to watch Knots Landing when it aired but based on the few episodes I’ve seen, Devane is great addition to the cast.

‘Revenge’ Review: Commitment

If you didn’t believe it before then you better believe it now; the gloves are definitely off as physical and emotional blows are made. There’s always manipulation happening but this week we see consequences that make Emily (Emily VanCamp) change her plans very quickly.

The Grayson’s divorce is already messy but with a little help from Emily, Conrad (Henry Czerny) becomes a winner and a loser from this latest round. Conrad receives a copy of David’s (James Tupper) video interview, claiming to be Charlotte’s (Christa B. Allen) father.

‘Revenge’ Review: Infamy

Normal service has resumed as everyone deals with the aftermath of Tyler (Ashton Holmes). “Infamy” continues the trend of enjoyable episodes but it’s the last few minutes that really had me hooked. In fact, I said “Oh my God” several times, before wondering how everything was going to play out in future episodes.

‘Revenge’ Review: Duress

It seems like ages since ABC initially aired the promo of Tyler (Ashton Holmes) pointing a gun at everyone at Daniel’s (Joshua Bowman) birthday party. I was already excited with anticipation and the advance release of the first 9 minutes wet my appetite further. “Duress” doesn’t fail to disappoint and serves up an excellent episode with some outstanding performances.

Tyler tries to further blackmail Conrad (Henry Czerny) with the video evidence of Frank’s (Max Martini) confrontation with Lydia (Amber Valletta) before she fell off her building. Things don’t go as planned, for Tyler, as Emily (Emily VanCamp) finds the video but also Tyler’s empty bottle of meds.
